Steve Bannon is the most forceful articulation of Trump’s rumored ambition to stay in the White House for another term.

Obama could call his bluff by announcing that, if Trump runs for another term, then Obama will challenge him. The justification, of course, is that whatever means of circumventing the 22nd Amendment they argue applies to Trump will equally apply to Obama.

The prospect of being directly matched against Obama will freak him out because he knows he wouldn’t have a chance.

That would be the end of it.
